Main Elements
You will create a media kit with ample details about the event, the speaker, your overall success in organ donor signups, and your overall corporate
history.

For that reason these four elements will be included in your media kit:
News release
Feature story
Executive summary
Company profile/letter from the president
Specific Details
You are the public relations practitioner for a hospital. You have been asked to prepare a media kit for an upcoming congressman’s visit to your
upcoming event. The congressman is interested in knowing about your latest program to promote organ donation through your hospital’s Seventh
Annual “Organ Donor Signup Gala” in which you raise money for the cause and set a goal to sign up 1,000 individuals as new organ donors. This is a
black-tie event at a local reception hall and includes dinner, a guest speaker, and the usual fundraising activities, such as raffles and a silent auction.
This year’s guest speaker will be a woman who received a donated organ from an unknown donor and who will be telling your audience about how
important it is to become a donor. She had a rare disease and the transplant saved her life.

This, of course, will be a media event because of the congressman’s visit as well as the value of the cause. If you are successful in reaching 1,000
signups with this year’s event your hospital will have successfully signed up 10,000 people in the last seven years. This is especially important
because your hospital CEO listed this as a priority in your ten-year strategic plan and your organization is ahead of schedule.
