Data For Final Project

Words: 1090
Pages: 4
Subject: Premium Writing

Before you begin Final Project Step 1,
make sure you’ve read Final Project Instructions and downloaded the data you’ll need for the final project (an Excel Spreadsheet).
To complete this assignment, you need to:
1. Review the Final Project Data Excel Spreadsheet.

2. In the comments box for this assignment, identify and describe a) the name of two variables that you could use
for your project, b) their levels of measurement, and c) write a hypothesis in words about what you would expect to find about the relationship between two variables (this is your research hypothesis).

3. In Excel, create a chart or graph to graphically show each of your variables. Make sure you choose a type of
chart or graph that is best for the level of measurement of your variable. Place these two charts or graphs in an
Excel Workbook. Make sure your charts or graphs contain all the following elements, which you’ll need to succeed
on the final project, including labels, titles, and axis labels.

4.Submit your Excel workbook to this assignment. You will not be able to submit your answer for Step 2 unless you also submit an Excel file.

Example Variables & Hypothesis (do not use):
One variable is number of siblings. It is measured at the interval level.

One variable is victim of crime. It is measured at the nominal level.

My hypothesis is that people who have siblings are more likely to be victims of crime than people without siblings.

You have been hired by the Provost of GSU to work on a research project. The provost is interested in learning
more about students who attend universities throughout the country, especially in terms of how they are faring. She would like to see a 6-10 page report (text should be single-spaced) that describes the sample of college students
you analyze in terms of demographic characteristics. She also is interested in bivariate relationships (relationships between two variables) that would help her understand how students are doing. She wants to hear from you
because of your expertise as criminal justice students. Make sure your report concerns issues related to
criminology, victimology, and criminal justice, and other aspects of our field.

Data For Final Project
Click each arrow below for a list of activities that you are responsible to complete as part of working with this data.

To complete your project, you will be using data from the American College Health Assessment National College
Health Assessment (ACHA-NCHA II). These data reflect survey responses from college students throughout the
United States.

Students complete a survey in which they are asked questions about their college experience, their health, and
their behavior among other things.

Note: not all survey items are included in your data.

Final Project Report
Submit Your Assignment: Due Date, Rubric & Submissions For Final Project Report

Final Project Report Your final report should include the following steps & elements:
✅ Find two null hypotheses that you will be able to test, as well as their corresponding research hypotheses.

In
each hypothesis, you will need to hypothesize about the relationship between two variables. Each hypothesis must use two unique variables, for a total of four variables.

✅ Include an introductory paragraph(s) that describes what you are examining and why.

The WHY must be
justified by using existing literature. You must use at least 2 peer-reviewed journal articles to justify what you are
examining.
For example, if you are interested in examining the relationship between college students attending
class and their GPA, you should find a peer-reviewed article that notes that there is a relationship between these
two variables.
You must do this for both hypotheses. If you were to explore this relationship for your first
hypothesis, you would NOT be able to use the variable attending class or GPA in your second hypothesis.

✅ A table that shows the descriptive statistics of your sample in terms of who is in the sample (demographic
characteristics of your sample).

Provide information on at least four variables.
Remember to use the appropriate
descriptive statistics given your level of measurement.
You will create this table from what you find using excel.
This table must include a write-up that describes your sample.

✅ A chart or graph (e.g., bar chart, pie chart, histogram, line graph) that visually depicts each of your variables
(4 in total).

These charts must have a write up to describe your findings.
Label your axes
Each chart should have at least 2 sentences that describe what the chart shows.

✅ Perform your 2 hypothesis tests using the correct statistic.

You must include in your report specifics from your hypothesis tests in a table and describe your findings in writing. You must also make conclusions about your
research so that the Provost can understand what you found. Remember to discuss statistical significance!
You
must also submit in iCollege your Excel Workbook that includes a new worksheet labelled “Final Project”. In this
worksheet you will cut and paste the 4 variables that you used for your analyses and will display your output that
you generated from Excel.

✅ A concluding paragraph that summarizes all of your findings.
