Describe the statistical tests them in enough detail that they could be replicated by a competent data analyst.

****MUST be familiar with and have access to SPSS****
Dataset to use is included in “Uploaded Files (along with a sample paper).”
Homework instructions are as follows:
Repeated Measures ANOVA
For this homework assignment, we will practice running the
analysis and writing up the results, using the Rubric as a guide. Well use the
data set from Module 5 (one way ANOVA) but we will include more variables this
time (pre and post scores)

I. Introduction
The purpose of this study was to explore the use of the
Solution Focused Narrative Therapy model with cancer patients and those who are
in remission, in a group therapy setting, as a means of re-entry into life and
to discover whether using SFNT can affect positive outcomes of hope.
Comparisons between SFNT group therapy, traditional therapy, as well as a group
receiving no therapy, were made. Outcomes of hope were measured by the QOL or
the Quality of Life Instrument (Ferell, Hassey-Dow, & Grant, 2012) which
measures the quality of life of a cancer patient. All participants completed
the QoL Instrument before the treatment period began and again after treatment.
The purpose of this study (Homework #6) is to determine to what degree the
three treatment groups (SFNT, CBT, and No Therapy) pre to post test scores
changed over the course of treatment (TotalPre and TotalPost). Use the data set
Homework 6 Data.sav to complete this assignment.

II. Analysis
Fill in this section on your own. Remember, according to the
rubric, it should:

Clearly state what statistical analysis was
conducted

Clearly state the appropriateness of the
statistical tests

Clearly link the statistical tests to the logic
of design and analysis and

Describe the statistical tests them in enough
detail that they could be replicated by a competent data analyst
In other words, what analysis did you run, why is it
appropriate for this scenario, what are your dependent and independent
variables, what software did you use?

III. Data Issues
In this section you will

Report the results of any assumption checks you
made (and you should always check the assumptions of whatever analysis you are
running).

Use your notes to see what the assumptions are
for this analysis.

List the assumptions in this section and provide
directions for how to check them.

Once you have checked the assumptions, indicate
whether your data met those assumptions.

IV. Descriptive Statistics
Here you will provide the descriptive statistics for your
dependent variable(s) (TotalPre and TotalPost). Remember, descriptive
statistics are:

mean,

standard deviation,

skewness, and

kurtosis
These statistics can be tabled, and any interesting finding
can be highlighted with a sentence or two. Run the descriptive statistics for
your dependent variable(s) for this scenario. Report the descriptive statistics
in a table in this section. Comment on any noteworthy or interesting result.

V. Inferential Results
Inferential results are your statistical significance
results. When you ran the analysis were the results statistically significant?
Remember to look at the sig column in the SPSS output. Is the value less than
.05? Report the results of your significance test in this section.

VI. Effect Sizes
Here you will report the effect size for your result.
Remember, statistical significance tells us whether the result is likely.
Effect sizes provide information regarding whether the result is usefulyes/no
the result is statistically significant, but is it practically significant?
Effect sizes provide an indication of practical significance.
What is the effect size for this analysis? Report it here.

VII. Conclusion
Link your findings back to your research scenario,
qualitative interpretation of what you found.
You can handle this section. Report the conclusions here.
