Assignment Question
Final Exam – PSY-315 This is an essay-based exam that requires you to complete a personality assessment and apply the knowledge you have gained from this course to better understand how your personality characteristics might influence your success in college, graduate/professional school, or career.
Disclaimer: This is a brief assessment that only estimates where you stand within the larger spectrum of five major personality traits. It is NOT designed to assess psychological disorders or suggest that you should alter/adopt any approach to future interactions. This assessment is strictly for educational purposes only.
Directions: Take the IPIP-NEO assessment by following this link. You may choose to take either the original (300 items – 30-40 minutes) or the shorted version (120 items – 10-20 minutes). Once you decide which version to take you must carefully read ALL the information presented before beginning the assessment.
Answer the questions honestly and without bias. Unless you choose to share it with me or someone else, you will be the only person with access to your results. Once you have taken the assessment it will generate a report based on your answers, which provides a score breakdown on extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. You may notice that each of the five traits is further divided into sub-traits and that your overall score is briefly assessed just under the graph for each major trait. Use this information to address the prompt below.
Prompt: Indicate which version of the IPIP-NEO you took. This can be a single sentence at the top of the paper. Review the report generated by the assessment and discuss what your score on each major trait (i.e., all five traits) reveals regarding how your personality may influence your future success either at the University of Mississippi, graduate/professional school, or your career. (5 points per trait – 25 points total) BONUS (not required): Briefly discuss what factors (e.g., culture, relationships, religion, etc.) you think may have influenced the development of your personality. (Up to 5 extra points) This should be the sixth paragraph of your paper. Note – The bonus points are designed to offset any points lost on the required part of the prompt. The maximum score you can achieve a 25/25 even if you get a perfect score on the required part and complete the bonus. The discussion for each trait should consist of at least one well-formed paragraph. It is important to note that each sentence must add substance and should not simply be a “space filler”. You should not quote or reproduce any major part of the report in your paper
