•Maintain Formal Voice. Do not use the pronouns “I” or “me.”
•Include proper paragraph structure:
– Main/Topic idea sentence is clear, correctly placed, and is restated in a closing sentence.
– Paragraph(s) have three or more supporting detail sentences that relate back to the main idea
– Details are in logical order. Order keeps the reader interested.
•Include a hook, thesis, information about the topic and the background in question in the introduction paragraph.
•Include 3 body paragraphs minimum in which to analyze your 3 discussion points as they support your topic/thesis.
•Provide support! Use specific examples, details, reasons, explanations & “quotes” with proper MLA in-text citation to support your ideas (MLA in-text citation occur at the end of the sentence in parenthesis). Good rule of thumb: use one outside support source per paragraph.
•Use the Quote Sandwich Technique for all direct quotes.
•End with a polished conclusion paragraph where you summarize, restate your thesis, share your proposal and explain its importance.
