This assignment gives you the
opportunity to explore diverse beliefs, values and practices in our world and
to analyze their implications for nursing care.
Directions:
Select two different diverse/cultural
groups of interest to you (current – not historic groups). View one film about that group, e.g.
lifestyle, beliefs and practices r/t health & illness, spirituality, childcare,
death & dying. These are just a few
examples of topic areas!
Each film should focus on one group. It should provide information about that
group, not “Nursing Care for….” Film must be a documentary or personal testimony
– not a non-fiction, “Hollywood” story.

Library: Films on Demand and You Tube. You may use other media film sources if you
wish.
The time duration of each film
must be at least twenty (20) minutes.

For each film, provide the following information:
1. Name of film and time duration.
2. Give a detailed description of what was
shown on the film.
(e.g. “This film showed…. This film
interviewed… The narrator discussed….”)
3. Based on the film: give three
pieces of information that would be valuable for nurses to
know
when caring for a person from that group.
4. Based on what you learned from the
film: formulate two relevant nursing assessment questions. Write questions as if you are actually talking
to a patient of that group.
5 How could the film be improved? Give one recommendation for additional
information or an
unanswered question that would be
informative for the film to include.
6. Ending reflections on film: one paragraph. Your feelings and your critical thinking about
the
film. In this section, you may use
the word “I”.
7. At end of the section: provide a reference
citation for the film, in APA format.

Paper:

In responses, do not include reference source
citation. It is understood that the
reference is the film.
