Prompt: Compare and contrast the objectives of participants in FOUR of the social movements that took place during the 1960s and early 1970s. According to the author(s) of each document, what problems existed in the U.S. in the 1960s and early 1970s? What solutions did the author(s) propose in each document? In what ways were the problems and solutions identified in the documents similar? In what ways were they different?

Your paper MUST cite Foner’s Give Me Liberty! to provide historical context.
Your paper MUST contain a CLEAR THESIS that directly addresses each part of the prompt.
Paragraphs should begin with clear topic sentences that relate to and support your thesis. Focus on one topic per paragraph.
Use transition sentences that illustrate the connection between successive paragraphs.
Your conclusion should summarize the significance of your analysis of the social movements of the 1960s.

Introduce all quotes with your own analysis – they should flow seamlessly as part of your sentence.
For example, an analysis of the Gettysburg Address may appear like this: In his Gettysburg Address, President Abraham Lincoln contended that the soldiers who fought in that battle consecrated the hallowed ground “far above our poor power to add or detract.”
Quotations should not exceed 2.5 lines. Remember: your paper should contain 80% of your own analysis, 20% supporting quotes/paraphrases.
Use Chicago format to footnote quoted and paraphrased material.
