Your assignment is to write a 5-paragraph essay. During the Gilded Age, the US government’s laissez-faire approach to the economy and society led to massive economic growth but also failed to address many issues in the nation. Progressives worked to fix these problems and appealed to the government for change. Should the federal government have the power to pass legislation regulating the activities of private businesses and individuals?
Format
You are writing a 5-paragraph essay. There should be an introductory paragraph with a thesis statement, three supporting/body paragraphs and a closing/summary paragraph. Please refer to your 5-paragraph essay notes from English class.
The rough draft and final draft of your essay must be typed. You MUST use Times New Roman 12 point font and have 1 inch margins all the way around and double space. DO NOT double return between paragraphs. When you hand in your final draft for grading it should have 1 staple holding it together in the top left hand corner. You do not need a cover page or fancy holder. Your name, class/section and the date should be typed in the top left hand corner as well.
