write a 3 (THREE) page essay involving your personal experience with reading and/or writing in some way.
Be at least 3 FULL pages long (to the bottom of page 3). Points will be deducted for lack of length before the rest of the essay is graded. For instance, an essay that is only 2 pages long can not receive more than 66 percent, and it is highly unlikely that the grade will be that good.
Be in proper essay format: Times New Roman 12 point font, 1 inch margins all the way around, double-spacing throughout, proper four line heading on first page, last name and page number in upper right of EVERY page. An example of the format is at the end of this document. Points will be deducted for improper format as well.
Have a thesis that specifically states the topics you will explore in your essay. This is very important to the flow, organization and completeness of the essay.
Be about reading and or writing on a personal level in some way. Stories about other people or narratives that only partly pertain to reading/writing will receive stiff penalties.
No outside sources should be used for this essay, so no Works Cited page is necessary. However, if you use a source, you MUST cite it in the body and use a Works Cited page. Just mentioning the title of a work does not necessitate a Works Cited page or citation.
Proper punctuation should be used for books, essays, magazines, etc. Please ask if you do not know these. Again, points will be deducted for errors in simple grammar issues such as proper punctuation as well as basic grammar issues, including comma splices and fragments.
