4-2 Final Project Milestone Two: Review of Current and Past Research

Overview: For the second milestone of your final project, you will submit your review of current and past research. This assignment will require an annotated bibliography and an analysis outline (paper) or talking points (via a podcast or video) of prevalent stereotypes, historical and modern interpretations, and recent social change related to your chosen issue. Be sure to provide detailed examples. Your analysis will be submitted in the medium you intend to use for your final project: paper, video, or podcast.
Milestone Two is designed for you to generate a more complete sense of your final project’s structure and content through your alignment of all its foundation pieces with evidence.
Your annotated bibliography will be submitted as a 1–2 page document in APA style. Your annotated list should include at least five academic sources, with a short explanation (one paragraph) after each source that briefly states the source’s topic and relevance to your project. Your explanation should also indicate each source’s usefulness in terms of historical and social context. This usefulness can be demonstrated through identifying any relevant social institutions, social roles, and/or stereotypes present in the source and connected to your project.
Your outline should be 1–2 pages if it is a paper or 3–5 minutes if you are submitting a podcast or video. Provide relevant examples and citations for your outline or talking points.

Your outline or talking points of your final project will include the following:
 A restatement of your issue, refined and narrowed as necessary.
 Stereotypes related to your issue. Here you will be building on the stereotypes you began to identify in your Milestone One worksheet. Be sure to list the
validity, effects, and persistence of these stereotypes with media examples.
 Examples of social change around your chosen issue with specific examples from the media.
 Historical interpretations of the issue within relevant social structures (i.e., social institutions and culture).
 Modern interpretations of the issue within relevant social structures (i.e., social institutions and culture). Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:
Provide an annotated bibliography. Your bibliography must include at least five resources and an annotation stating the source’s relevance and usefulness in terms of historical and social context.
