Assignment: This assignment asks you to consider what experience, sequence of events, or rationale brought you to your major. Furthermore, it requires you to consider an area of your major/the field you would like to study throughout the semester, explain why the topic interests you, and determine why you believe this topic is valuable to your growth as a writer/researcher and the growth of your major/field of study. You will conclude this writing by articulating a research question and hypothesis.

****BACKGROUND: I am a health science pre-physican asssitant major. This assignment has to do with any research topic in relation to my major. Some topics that interest me is OB/GYN, cardiology, surgery and quality of patient care in third world countries. Genre and Purpose: An introduction moves the reader from a general topic to a clear and particular area of research/inquiry. As a result, it is written in sections. First, it states the general area of study. Next, the introduction provides context/necessary background information by summarizing your understanding of the selected topic. The introduction moves on to present your research question and hypothesis, and concludes with an articulation of the significance of your study.
Audience: As with most academic writing, the audience for this assignment includes classmates and the professor; however, what is distinct to this work is that it should be written with a community of peers in mind as well. Rather than addressing a large audience, students should write to other members of their major.

250 – 500 words.
