Constrained multiobjective Bayesian optimization of mixed hydraulic barriers rates and placement to control seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers

I wrote this Introduction section for a research paper that I wanted to send to a Journal especialized in saltwater intrusion in Groundwater. However, it turns out that the guidlines of the Journal requests that the number of words don’t exceed 1500 word (Currently I have 3200 words). I need someone to help me with re-writing this such that it can be more clear and concise without changing its meaning
