The first essay is due September 29th, 2021, at 11:59pm. In this paper students will pick ONE theory of motivation( Arousal Theory, Drive Reduction Theory, Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory of Motivation, McClelland’s Need Theory, McGregor’s Participation theory, Vroom’s Expectancy Theory, Cognitive Evaluation Theory, or Maslow’s Theory of Motivation) to explain why Timmy is not attending classes according to their chosen theory. Questions such as “what motivates Timmy to act the way he does?”, “what are the potential motivators for his behavior?”, and “what can be done to help improve his behavior?” should be answered. The paper should be 3-5 pages in length. You will be graded on your understanding of the theory and how you apply it to Timmy. The paper should be APA format with correct APA citations. You are required to cite the course readings in your paper. You must have at least ONE citation. Additional references can be used as long as they are peer-reviewed studies and properly cited, please see the UVU Fulton Library or Writing Centers for help and resources. Timmy is an adolescent boy who is struggling to make it to class on time and pay attention while he is there. He often stays up all night to play video games and rarely leaves the house for activities with friends and family. School starts at 8 am and Timmy is rarely able to wake up to his alarm, often pressing snooze dozens of times before he is awakened by his father’s loud pounding on the door. He falls asleep in class and frequently skips on completing his homework.
