Write a 1,300-1,400 word paper in which you discuss the movie Sorry to Bother You in terms of Afro-Surrealism and the films social significance. The writing process for this paper begins with watching the film, of course. But after that, study the readings below. Start with the resources on writing. Then, read Millers Call It Afro-Surreal. Points B, 2, 6, and 8 seem especially useful in relation to Sorry to Bother You.
When you write the paper, your first body section probably should be about Sorry to Bother You. Do not provide a plot summary! But do provide a brief summary of the films events. Then talk about characters, themes, and/or scenes which are important to you. Be sure to anticipate how you will connect them to Millers ideas about Afro-Surrealism; youll need to be able to do that for the next step.
The next section should address Afro-Surrealism, explaining what it is and giving some examples of it. Then a final section should talk about how Sorry to Bother You is Afro-Surrealist.
