The five steps to scientific method:
1. Ask a question, describe a problem, and identify the specific area of interest
2. Research existing sources, backgroung research through a background review, which is a review of any existing similar or related studies.
3. Formulate a Hypothesis, an assumption about how two or more variables are related; it makes a conjectural statement about the relationship between those variables.
4. Designing a conducted study, conduct research and obtain data on the subject. Investigate a relationship to test the hypothesis.
5. Drawing conclusions, putting together the results from the data collected and furthering development when future researchers respond to and retest findings.
Interpretive methodologies differ from positivist methodologies is that they do not use hypothesis, it is more through an interaction or through a subject observation. Positivist methodologies is re often referred to as hypothetico-deductive methodologies. A hypothesis is derived from a theoretical proposition. On the basis of the hypothesis a prediction or generalization is logically deduced. In positivist sociology, the hypothesis predicts how one form of human behaviour influences another. Yes I do believe that interpretive methodologies are scientific because its a study of how one variable changes to another,

here are eight (8) steps in a scientific method which begins with:
1Asking a question in something that strikes interest.
2A literature review where one studies what other researchers have conducted in the interested topic and discovers new studies that might have been overlooked.
3Develop a hypothesis that will answer the research question.
4Creating observations or methods such as surveys, participant observation and intervies
5Collect the results either method or observation created
6Analyze the data from the observations
7Record studies
8 And end with public and share to get feedback and opinions to alter organized research
Interpretive methodologies and positivist methodologies are independent methodologies that possess their own structure. Positivist methodology focuses on the factual brink of science by working on data collection and examination, and experimenting. This system tends to be based on logic, fairness, and transposable processes. The interpretive methodology is based around gaining an understanding of one’s perspective on reality which is usually done by arranging interviews where the subject can be vulnerable and reveal their truth to the researcher. It is perplexing to tell whether interpretive methodology is scientific due to the interviewing procedures since they are gathering a viewpoint which might not be considered factual. However, the text speaks out about how interpretive methodology is viewed to be biased which is a misconception since many researchers address their real intention to spread a perspective by building a relationship and trust with the participants. Although it is problematic to tell whether interpretive methodology is scientific, I would consider it to be scientific since it does follow the scientific method.
