Discuss the effects of media on depression in females and the role society plays

Lifetime
prevalence of major depressive disorder is approximately 15 percent and
the point prevalence is approximately 5 percent. This translates to
about one in seven having a greater chance of developing major
depressive symptoms in the course of their lifetime and a 1 in 20
percent chance of experiencing depression at this very moment. As common
as depression is among modern society, research indicates that women
are twice as likely to experience depressive symptoms than men. The
reasons for this uneven gender distribution is considered to be result
of a combination of biological, psychological, and sociocultural
factors.
