The objective of the capstone
course is to produce a paper or creative project that is exemplified by extensive research, critical
thought, and intellectual engagement. The project should excite students and deepen their
sociological understanding. As a “senior project,” it will require students to identify a research or
creative project, develop a research question, choose an appropriate method for studying the
problem, and adopt a theoretical perspective to explain the issue.

1. Propose a Working title for the project.
2. Write an initial Problem Statement (PS)
3. Write a Research Question (RQ)
4. Write a Research Hypothesis (RH).
