Write an essay in which you compare and contrast the Declaration of Independence, found on page A-15 in the back of your text, with Frederick Douglass’s speech “What, to the slave, is the Fourth of July?” delivered on July 5, 1862 to the Rochester, NY Ladies’ Anti-Slavery Society. While I encourage you to read all 20 pages of the speech, you will need to focus on pages 7 through 11 for your comparison.
