Topic/Prompt: You may write your paper on any Latinx person, group, or organization located in the United States. In addition to biographical or historical information, your paper should discuss how the person, group, or organization was impacted by prejudice, stereotyping and/or racism.Make sure that your topic is not too broad for a short paper.

PREJUDICE
Prejudice Definition (from simplepsychology.org)
Prejudice involves three key components: an emotional response to members of the group; beliefs about the abilities, behaviors, and characteristics of group members; and behaviors directed at group members.
STEREOTYPING
Stereotype Definition (from simplepsychology.org)
In social psychology, a stereotype is a fixed, over generalized belief about a particular group or class of people. By stereotyping we infer that a person has a whole range of characteristics and abilities that we assume all members of that group have.
RACISIM
Stereotype Definition (from OxfordDictionary.com)
Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
Length: Your paper must be 3-4 pages in length in correct MLA format. Correct MLA format means the font is either Palatino or Times New Roman and is size 12. It also means the essay is double spaced.
Works Cited Page: Your paper must include a Works Cited page listing three sources from which you obtained your information. You must use aminimum of three sources.
Direct and Indirect Quotations:
1) All quotations must be cited.
2) All quotations must be short. “Short” means the quote is less than 4 lines long.
3) Use at least three quotations in your essay.
4) Don’t use more than six quotations in your essay.

F range paper
1) Paper is OFF TOPIC (meaning it doesn’t fully address the topic/prompt).
1) Paper is not turned in by the grace period due date or is emailed or posted in the comments section of the Canvas assignment AFTER the grace period due date.
2) Paper is less than 1 1/2 pages long.
3) Paper is plagiarized.
