Read this whole thing. Yes it is
long, but trust me, it’ll be worth the couple minutes you spend reading
I have graded
week 2 Tableau stuff.
Week 3 practice
exercises require 3 different datasets.
PE03_Teacher.twbx
you will use for questions 1 and 2. The link for question 1 isn’t
there, so just download it from number 2 and use it for both questions
the Superstore
data that comes with Tableau is needed for question 3
PE03_CalculatedFields.twbx
is what you need for questions 4 and 5. My images have % symbols and
time as AM/PM. Yours will not unless you got format them to be % and
AM/PM. There is a GIF in the discussion board that shows you how to
access the format pane. FORMATTING IS OPTIONAL (but a nice touch if you
can do it quickly)
The image
attached to question 1 IS NOT what your image is supposed to look like
aside from your viz looking like the US. That image is there to show you
what I am expecting in your screenshot. DO NOT cover the rows, columns,
marks, or legends with your tool tip box. Cover florida with the tooltip
box instead. PROTIP:
Put your name in the tooltip box
You can download
the PowerPoints for the week here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1r8MOvgPG6DDeXWSRlXfqzgPJUsbP0fys?usp=sharing.
RIGHT CLICK (macOS: 2-finger click) the file you want and select
download. This week’s PowerPoints are

There is a
Tableau project that if you have no already opened and started looking
at, you should do so right away. It leads off with a bunch of multiple
choice questions that you use the PowerPoints to answer. Then comes the
COVID question. This requires you to do some data prep in Excel before
reading it in to Tableau. I assume you know how to…
…write basic
formulas in Excel (by basic I mean a formula that uses subtraction)
…quickly copy
and paste in Excel.
The last 2
questions of the project have you drawing maps (and taking screen shots)
that are based on the COVID question.
