While group therapy is associated with a wide range of benefits, such as allowing patients to practice social skills, reducing feelings of “being alone” in mental illness, and increasing opportunities to learn from others’ experiences, for some mental health disorders, there are concerns that group members may teach one another how to “do their problematic behaviors betters.” Furthermore, while the internet is hoped to be a way to disseminate more accurate information about mental health to more people and to possibly provide additional avenues for intervention, there is little to no restriction on what can be posted on the internet, creating the possibility for inaccurate information to be distributed or for harm to be done.
