HBCU History and Legacy
Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize you with the history of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in general and Savannah State University in particular. You will have the opportunity to evaluate and reflect on the value and mission of the university in a modern context. As culture has become more globally integrated, some question whether the existence of HBCUs is still relevant, or valuable. This is an opportunity to analyze the evidence and articulate your position on the modern relevance and value of Savannah State University as an HBCU.

Take time to research 2-3 reputable sources about the history and legacy of HBCUs and take notes from them.
From your own ideas, develop one of the following to provide in class:
A 2-page (roughly 500 word) paper addressing the history and modern value of HBCUs. Grammar must be sufficient to not preclude readability and clear communication of ideas.
