Clinical Exercise Prescription Case Study

A male came into a clinic for a clinical physiological assessment with the following medical history, laboratory assessment measurement values, and signs/symptoms. With this information, please answer the following as they pertain to exercise prescription.

Question 1: Based upon his health and medical history, list his CV risk factors and describe the mechanisms of action by which aerobic exercise can help alleviate these risk factors.
Question 2: Your patient’s primary care provider prescribed insulin, atenolol, and Lisinopril to help treat his CVD risk factors. Describe the mechanism of action for each of these medications as well as any potential changes to the hemodynamics during exercise. In addition, is it important to structure the timing of the exercise session? Why or why not?
Question 3: Using the attached GXT summary sheet, prescribe an aerobic exercise training program that is safe and effective at alleviating risk for CVD. Please include the FITT principal in your answer and justification for your prescription.
Question 4: In addition to an aerobic training program, resistance training would also be beneficial to this individual. In particular, with the addition of resistance training to the patient’s training regimen, for which CVD risk factor would this be beneficial? How would you incorporate a moderate intensity resistance training program into this patient’s training regimen to the already-existing aerobic training program (number of days/week, amount of time, # of exercises, etc.)? Once again, please use the FITT principal and justify your answer.
