Case Analysis Assignment 1 Due: October 3, 2021 (approx. 4-5 pages total) Case Analysis Assignment 1 Topic Options:
Media Relations, Internal Communications, Public Affairs and Government Relations, Community Relations, Social Media
Pick two of the above, please do not do two of the same topic

DESCRIPTION OF OUTSIDE CASE ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENTS
This course places a heavy emphasis on understanding the public relations process. This assignment will require you to draw upon what we have read and what we have discussed via Blackboard. You will also incorporate original outside research into your final submission.
For each case analysis assignment, you must do some original research and find two original cases (meaning cases not covered by our textbook or other course readings) associated with the topic options provided above. You may find these cases online as documented case studies (e.g., on the PRSA Website, PR Daily, or another industry website) or in recent or current events in the news (e.g., from the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, or another reputable traditional news source).
The two cases you submit for each case analysis assignment must cover different topics. For example, for Outside Case Analysis Assignment 1, it would be acceptable to turn in a media relations case and an internal communications case; however, it would not be acceptable to turn in two media relations cases. These cases may be recent cases or historical cases.
After you have found two cases that interest you for each case analysis assignment, please do the following:
 Describe the cases. Be sure to include:
o Identification of each case topic
o A summary of the key elements associated with each case
o A discussion of the opportunity or problem associated with each case o Information about key audiences/target publics for each case
o Actions taken by the individual/organization/entity in each case
 A brief analysis of each case, including:
o Key takeaways for public relations practitioners o What was done well (if applicable)
o What could have been improved (if applicable)
 Finally, compare and contrast the two cases.
Each case analysis assignment must include:
• References associated with course readings.
• At least 2 outside references (meaning materials we did not cover in class). • Citations and a reference list in APA style.
Each case analysis assignment should be double-spaced (12-point, Times New Roman font) and approximately 4-5 pages total (meaning 4-5 pages for each of the Outside Case Analysis Assignments, not including the reference list).
