Diversity & Equity

For this assignment, write your diversity, equity, and
inclusion statement for an organizational audience. In addition, provide
a short narrative that discusses the following questions as they have
informed your DEI Statement. This assignment aims to prompt reflection
on your perspective on DEI, your role, and identify strategies you will
employ to enhance DEI in your organization and for yourself.
For the assignment, address the following:
What do diversity, equity, and inclusion as separate concepts mean to you?
Clarify what these concepts mean to you by contextualizing each concept.
State your DEI statement and the organizational context it serves.
How do you prioritize and value DEI in your work?
Which concept (diversity, equity, or inclusion) is your priority (and why)?
Describe how you create inclusive and equitable environments.
What strategies will you employ to create better DEI in your sphere of influence?
Explain how you will demonstrate this in your work in the future with specific examples.
What are plans for creating new programs or opportunities?
What are future opportunities to pursue learning to be able to implement your plans?
What funding, if any, will you pursue to be able to make your plans a reality?
Describe how you might apply an equity lens and
antiracist practice to your capstone project or preliminary plan for
your capstone project.
Mechanics:
This assignment should be between 5-6 pages double-spaced. The
DEI Statement should be one page. The remaining pages should be your
narrative, with supporting resources in APA formatting. Write a
narrative in the first person that discusses the questions above. These
questions should inform your DEI statement.
