Native American Communities

Overview
Your essay should be a minimum of 5 full pages in length (not including your Works Cited) and include a minimum of 4 secondary sources and a properly formatted Works Cited page (all in-texts and Works Cited entries should follow MLA 2021 guidelines). Your essay should not use first person.

Option 2:
During Week 3, you completed viewing and reading assignments that explored indigenous language revitalization efforts in the US and Canada. Is language revitalization important for tribal communities in the United States and Canada? Why or why not? What are some of the challenges that tribal communities face in their efforts to revitalize their indigenous languages, and how might these challenges be addressed? If you choose this option, you are encouraged to reference specific tribal examples to support your argument.

Structure
Your essay should include an introduction that introduces the topic and ends with a clearly worded, 1-2 sentence thesis statement. (Links to an external site.) Each supporting paragraph (there should be at least 3) should begin with a strong topic sentence and should incorporate evidence, including direct quotations from the short stories as needed to support your argument. Quotations from secondary sources should be smoothly integrated (Links to an external site.) and use proper MLA in-text citations. The essay should also contain a strong conclusion. The final page of the document should consist of a Works Cited (Links to an external site.)page. See the section on MLA formatting in your textbook for more information.

Formatting Tips
Your document should be a minimum of 5 full pages (not including Works Cited), typed and double- spaced, in Times New Roman font, size 12. Your paper should have 1-inch margins and should include a properly formatted heading and a title per MLA formatting guidelines.
