The following assignment should be completed in Microsoft Excel, Access and Word 2016.
For this project, you create a database and worksheets to track daily usage of your friend’s smartphone, tablet, or smart watch. In an iPhone, there is an option under Settings, Screen time that does this for you. Some other brands have similar settings.
You will survey twenty friends, ten male and ten female, who use an iPhone and report your results using Access, Excel and Word (for any narrative parts). You will ask each friend how much screen time (in hours) was spent on Productivity Sites and Social Networking Sites over the last 7 days. Indicate the dates covered and ask all twenty friends about the same 7 days.
You will need to record your friend’s names, male or female, amount of time spent on Productivity sites and amount of time spent on Social Networking Sites and the time period covered. Your time should be recorded in hours not minutes.
Requirements:
1. Give a description of your sample – how they were chosen, who (no names, just what group or groups they were from, i.e., classmates, teammates, etc.). From what population?
2. Compile your survey results in a table in ACCESS. Name the file [last namefirst initial]_CPSP19.accdb (Refer to Module 3 and Excel Project 4-1 for help).
3. Import your ACCESS file into an EXCEL worksheet. Use this worksheet to continue your assignment. Name the file [last namefirst initial]_CPSP19.xlsx (Refer to Module 1 and 2 Excel Projects for help).
4. Develop appropriate visual quantitative and/or categorical graphs/charts of your data: bar charts, boxplots, dot plots, pie charts
(at least one) and a frequency distribution and histogram for both categories (male and female) in EXCEL.
5. Develop appropriate Descriptive Statistics (quantitative analysis) of your data: mean, median, mode, variance, standard deviation, etc., using Excel’s Data Analysis tools.
6. Identify the center, shape and spread (and outliers, if present) based on previously developed visual graphics or descriptive statistics.
7. Compile and Present all information in a visual form in EXCEL like that of a Dashboard.
8. SUMMARY: Write two pages (double-spaced) summarizing the characteristics of your sample, your conclusions regarding your survey (or a comparison and/or contrast of results). From a manaerial perspective, what did you find out? What conclusions can you make? Who would find this information useful? How would you relate this project and the tasks required to Business Analytics?
