Write a paper on a subject relating to U.S. history between 1890 and 1945. The subject will be chosen by the student with the approval of the instructor. A minimum of 10 sources must be used, which will consist of books, primary source documents, and articles from scholarly journals. No textbooks or encyclopedia articles should be used as sources for the paper. All materials used, including paraphrases and summaries (not just direct quotations) from sources should be cited using the Chicago style, which will be explained in class. If you quote, paraphrase, or summarize from your research materials, you must indicate where the original information can be found. Failure to use notes properly may be considered plagiarism (see below).
