Midterm Exam
Worth – 20 points
Monday 10/4 9 am EST– Sunday 10/10 End of
day. You will submit a word document on Blackboard under “Assignment,”
“Midterm.”

1.
If you need an
extension, or encounter any issues while completing the exam, contact me 48
hours before the deadline so we can work something out. I will not accept
any late work without proper notice.
2.
This is an open book
exam. If you answer more questions than required, I will only review the first 3
answers out of section A and the first answer in section B. You will not
receive extra credit if you answer more.
3.
You must complete
both section A and B. Please make sure you answer each chosen question in its
entirety, using examples where requested.
4.
You must use course
readings, lecture videos, and external sources listed on Blackboard to answer
every question and essay prompt. You’re not required to do any additional
research to answer any of these questions – however, if you wish to do so, be
sure to cite your sources properly. Effective and correct citations are crucial
if you want to do well in this exam.
Section A: Short answer/definitions 4 x 2.5%
= 10% (Answer 4 out of the 6 questions with a paragraph or no more than 300
words for each. Please specify which questions you chose in your submission before
giving your answers.)

Woods system? Why did it start? What was it for? How/why did it end?
2.
What is Keynesianism?
What are its purposes? What kind of policies are identified as Keynesian?
3.
What is multilateralism?
What are its implications? What are the difficulties it’s facing?

What is
neoliberalism? Give three examples of economic policies/practices
typically associated with neoliberalism?
5.
What are TNCs?
Analyze one example of your choice and talk about its role in global economy.
6.
What are IGOs? Give
some examples of IGOs and their goals, responsibilities, and limitations.
Section B: Essay – 10% (Answer 1 of the 3
questions within an 500-word essay. Again, please specify in your document
which prompt you chose to write about.)
1. Write
an essay explaining the main features of the post-WWII economic system (until
1970s) as we have discussed? Your answer should mention more than one specific
institutions/organizations and what they did.
2. How would you describe the evolution of political
arrangements in the past few centuries (from the modern nation-state system to
now)? Give specific examples for each era.
3. Describe fast fashion in relation to economic globalization.
In what ways to the filmmakers of True Cost (2015) attempt to address
the issue of commodity fetishism through analyzing the “cost” of the industry?
