This assignment you will be using ArcGIS. There is a trial version for 21 days.
Take the below scenario, complete the appropriate steps, and create a completed 8″ by 11″ map that you would provide to the requesting member.
A Criminal Intelligence Section member has come to you and indicated that he needs a map and crime counts for a specific area of the city from 2020/01/01 to 2020/12/31. He indicates that the area is bounded by 78th Ave to the South, 84th Ave to the North, 132nd St to the West and King George Hwy to the East. You will need to draw a polygon that generally fits this area and then use it to select offence data intersecting this graphic polygon.
The member has also developed intelligence that there may be members of the Skittles Gang living in the area. The member would like you to create a list of all the probationers in the area of interest who have a history of drug related offenses, so that he can cross reference with a list of Skittles members and associates.
Required elements:
Map of specified area showing Offences and the specified Probationers in the area
List of specified Probationers (as an excel table copied and pasted into your map layout)
List of the top 10 offences (frequency of occurrence) counted by crime type (as an excel table copied and pasted into your map layout and include ties if there are any)
When you have finished your map, please export the layout view as a PDF file, by clicking File -> Export Map
