This week you will write your post on Dorothy Allison’s classic novel, Bastard Out of Carolina . Discuss the impact of physical, sexual, emotional and/or other forms of violence on the lives of the characters. Compare what happens to Bone to another character such as her sister, Reese, her mother, Annie or an aunt/ friend/cousin in the book. Identify the 2 or 3 forms of violence you choose to write on. Find one example that applies to each character and discuss how each person deals with this incident. Be sure to compare and contrast Bone’s way of handling this with that of the other character. Who is a source of support and healing? Who acts as an enabler to the perpetrator or perpetrators in the text? 2-3 paragraphs are fine.
