Between 1810 and 1825, nearly all of Latin America gained independence from Spain and Portugal, suggesting many parallels with the foregoing example of the United States. In the following decades, however, Latin American states experienced great political turmoil, and stable representative government proved an elusive goal. Please answer the following question.
