Write an argumentative essay in which you work to persuade your audience that your thesis is worth supporting (see topic choices on this assignment sheet). In addition to making a thesis claim and justifying why that claim is the best approach, your paper must use 4 of the rhetorical techniques we have been reading about in our online textbook, including pathos, ethos, logos, audience appeal, or counterargument. Finally, the paper needs to include an outside quote that helps support your claim. Make sure you avoid non-arguable statements like “everyone makes their own choice,” “it just depends on the individual,” or “there’s no right answer.”
Your final essay needs to be easily readable and have a good title, thesis, and MLA format. The quote from your outside source needs to be integrated correctly in your paper and correspond to a one-item Works Cited list.
