In this assessment you will prepare a new bushfire communication strategy for Marysville as per recommendations made after the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires (2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission 2010, p. 23; see ‘Resources and readings relevant for assessment’ section). Your communication strategy should be addressed as a report to the Murrindindi Shire Council and feature recommendations for communications at all stages of the emergency management cycle.

Your report should explain how these factors and other barriers to implementation are considered in your communication strategy.
Assessment criteria will measure your ability to:
Analyze the context: analyses and syntheses Marysville’s unique factors in relation to bushfires and potential community messaging (20%)
Recommend a communication strategy: recommendations for the new communication strategy are consistent with public health response concepts and the context of the targeted population (50%)
Analyze potential barriers identifies and analyses potential barriers to implementation of communication strategies and addresses the path to implementing recommendations (20%)
Prepare a quality report: the report should be well structured and well written with no errors in spelling and grammar; references should be cited correctly in Harvard style (10%)
