Indicate whether or not FaceFriends has violated any state or federal laws (U.S. or another country of your choice) with the selling of sensitive user information.

Directions: First, read Chapter Nine (especially page 268) and make sure you understand the difference between an analytical report and a basic informational report. Additionally, review how to correctly incorporate and document sources (Appendix B). Please complete and submit your report in pdf, html, PowerPoint, or Word format only.
Scenario and steps for completion: Pretend that you have been assigned to work on a subcontract at MediaCom by Central Global Communications (CGC), who is still your employer. You are a mid-level manager on this contract, working with the corporate heads at MediaCom. Your boss has asked you to complete an approximately 2-3 page double-spaced, researched, and documented analytical report that will be forwarded to the company’s president for review.

The problem you are analyzing is for a MediaCom client, FaceFriends, regarding personal privacy issues, social media, and business advertising. FaceFriends is supported by advertising and investment; it has been selling personal data and statistical/demographic analysis about FaceFriends users for years. However, now people have found out about this practice, and some users are angry and are complaining. In short, this is becoming a national PR disaster for the company (sound familiar? This actually happened a few years ago with Facebook).

Your job (“the problem” to solve) is to write an analytical report for FaceFriends:
1. Explain what the problem is,
2. Explain why these people who use social media might be upset,
3. Indicate whether or not businesses and advertisers should have access to this information, and
4. Indicate whether or not FaceFriends has violated any state or federal laws (U.S. or another country of your choice) with the selling of sensitive user information.
