As new technologies and solutions come out, we reap the benefits of enhanced security and improved productivity. It is now very common to see a CISO on the board of directors of large organizations, as cybersecurity is a business risk, and not just an IT problem.
Scenario: Delta Human Resources is a large HR company that has offices in Seattle, WA, with 90% of its staff working remotely using company provided computers. You were just hired as their Director of Security. While reviewing the company’s security posture, you quickly realize that the Delta HR only requires a username and a password for all employees to connect to their network remotely.
Assignment: Write a memorandum to The Board of Directors, with your recommendation for the need to invest in Multi-Factor Authentication technology. The goal of the letter is to convince the leadership and sell the idea, making sure to list the benefits that outweigh the costs. Make sure to use non-technical language, relevant data (i.e. recent hacks, phishing/ransomware due to lack of MFA, cost of recovery, price of the solution), and numbers/statistics to pitch your favorite vendor as a solution. Watch your grammar and punctuation, as you want to sound professional.
Format:
The letter should concise and to the point, between 1-2 pages long in a Word format (.doc/.docx).
Executives are busy, and would appreciate a concise data/fact driven proposal.
Include a Memo Heading with your name, title, recipient, and subject of the memo.
Watch out for grammar and punctuation mistakes
Avoid plagiarism, cite all your references and quotes.
