Write a paper a reflection about a true story of a girl diagnosed with a mental health illness. The girl, Daphne, is the author of the book The Last Time I Wore a Dress where she shares her traumatic experiences growing up as a tomboy. In short, Daphne was diagnosed in the early 80s with Gender Identity Disorder, a term given to an individual in the past who did not act like their gender. In Daphne’s case, she was a tomboy and was sent to a phsyc hospital and treated for her “tomboyish condition”. The hospital tried different treatments to get her to look, behave, and dress more like a girl. The term Gender Identity Disorder has been removed from the DSM in 2013 and is now called Gender Dysphoria.

You can skim the book and do the best you can. I am halfway through the book and will edit and add any content missing. I just need help putting together the paper because I’m short on time. The basic structure is the following:

A brief discussion of how you now understand Gender Identity Disorder. This can be your understanding of it. Doesn’t have to be a verbatim definition from the dictionary. This does not include a list of symptoms from the DSM 5 either, but rather a discussion about the general experiences of people diagnosed with the specific mental illness. Symptoms of the disorder and how they manifest/impact daily functioning must be explored.
Life Impact
How does it impact living with the mental health disorder. How did living with this diagnosis impact relationships, well-being, and sense of self for Daphne growing up? By the age of 13 she was in and out of hospitals.
Environmental Response
A discussion of how the world (environment – family, friends, responded to the person with the mental illness (Daphne). Explore how mental health stigma and inaccurate assumptions impact the life experiences of someone with a mental health disorder. Identify limitations in our mental health system of care and where there are inadequate services, support systems, and policies.
Personal and Professional Impact
A discussion of the impact the book has on you professionally and/or personally. There are great resources at the end of the book that you can use.

Please cite all sources and include the book. Thank you!
