Choose a policy issue that you are interested in and knowledgeable about. This will be the case study for your submission. You are encouraged to conduct your own research on this case study when answering the question. Imagine that you are a
policy entrepreneur in a country of your choice. You are passionate about the
policy issue that you have identified.
1. What do you think would be the most effective way to bring this issue to the political agenda, and why?
2. What
factors do you think would be the most important to consider in order to ensure
that implementation is successful?
3. What
type of evaluation would be the most effective for your policy proposal? What
are some of the constraints that can appear in such evaluation?
There
are multiple factors and considerations for each of the three questions listed
above. Note that you are not expected to cover all of these, but rather to
choose the most effective and important aspects for each question. You are
encouraged to be specific about your policy issue in your answers.
For
example, imagine that you are interested in nutrition programmes to promote
early childhood development in a country. How would you ensure that your issue
is placed on the political agenda? During the implementation phase, what steps
would you take to prevent the most likely implementation failures? Finally, how
would you ensure that your policy is effectively evaluated?
In
your response, you should outline what your case example is in a few sentences
and use the rest of your response to provide succinct answers to the above
questions. Make sure that you substantiate your responses using the concepts
from this module.
