Social conflict theory views crime as a function of class conflict and power relations. Laws are created and enforced by those in power to protect their own interests. Thus, the solution to crime according to social conflict theorists is to advocate for a more humanist, peacemaking solution to crime. Keeping that in mind, answer the following questions:
Research Bonger, Dahrendorf, or Vold (pick ONE). Discuss the culture and political/economic/social times in which they lived and the relevance of their theory to today’s culture.
Brainstorm how the theorist you chose above would suggest that we punish or manage today’s offenders.
