Read chapter 8 book “Criminal law” 13th edition
Drug related-crime has greatly contributed to the prison overcrowding problem in the United States. Students can use the internet to search your state for the numbers of inmates compared to the capacity of the institutions. Investigate overcrowding in your state or in a number of states. You should be able to locate the level of overcrowding as well as the types of crimes for which the inmates are incarcerated. Are the percentage’s you found similar to the percent in the text? Why might some state’s incarcerate more/less drug-related offenders?
