Explain the theories and tenets of each of the psychologists and how do their theories help us to understand the child? What are their contributions to children’s literature. For each theorist, select a fairy tale or folktale and show how one of the tenets operates in the story of our choice.

How are the theories operating in the tales? What is the age group of the child or youth being discussed? Consult the handout posted in Supplemental Resources concerning the developmental characteristics of children from infancy to a teenager and the handout on the five psychologists.
