Write a research about surgical options for breast cancer.

Research Topics and Guidelines:
Topic 1:
In your research paper, you will identify a specific problem that you have a personal interest in, provide 2-3 solutions that other people have suggested, and support one of the solutions as the best.

You can select any problem that interests you, but here are some (strong) suggestions:

avoid very common topics like the ones you’ll find on research paper websites
pick a topic that you have had personal experience with
pick a topic that doesn’t have an “easy” answer
make your topic very specific; for example, instead of writing about the national economy, write about the budget management at your workplace; instead of writing about cancer, write about surgical options for breast cancer; instead of writing about global warming, write about the automobile emissions in your county
make your topic local–something that is relevant to you, your family, workplace, or community
Your research paper will be at least 1500 words long, not including word count of the works cited page, so you want to make sure that you settle on a topic that you know you will be able to find information about and are interested in.

Topic 2:
Research a local ghost story or legend – keep it within North Carolina. You can pick any story or legend that interests you, but you’ll want to be able to find different interpretations of what the ghost story or legend is (e.g. Brown Mountain Lights can be caused by moisture in the air, soil sediment etc.). You’ll want to try to find several different sources for this paper, and this is one that interviews can be particularly useful if you are able to interview someone familiar with the story or legend. As with the first topic, your research paper will need to be at least 1500 words long, not including the word count of the works cited page, so be sure that you pick a story or legend that you will be able to develop fully.

Topic 3:
Research an unsolved mystery. This can be any unsolved mystery, but you’ll want to make sure that it is one that has enough research that you can build from. Provide 2-3 possible solutions to the case that others have suggested and support one of these solutions as the best or you can develop and support your own solution to the unsolved mystery. As with the other topics, your research paper will need to be at least 1500 words long, not including the word count of the works cited page, so be sure that you pick a mystery that you can develop fully. NOTE: The only exception to this is you cannot choose Jack the Ripper or JonBenet Ramsey.
