Everything we say or do presents some kind of argument, takes some kind of position (119). At the heart of every argument is a claim with which people may reasonably disagree. Some claims are not arguable because they’re completely subjective, matters of taste or opinion…because they are a matter of fact…or because they are based on belief (135). To be arguable, a position must reflect one of at least two points of view, making reasoned argument necessary (136).
In this essay, you will form an opinion about some issue and argue that your view of the issue is correct. Your argument will be supported by at least 3 credible outside sources. Credible means they will come from the library; .com sources will not count for the minimum. You will find sources arguing for and against your topic during our library day or on your own. Your focus should be on the subject, using sources to back up your thinking. Do not just rhetorically analyze three sources. Those sources are subordinate helpers to your argument.

All essays must be double-spaced and typed in size 12 Times New Roman font with 1 inch margins in .docx. Include your name, class and section numbers, my name, and the date in the upper left hand corner. Put your last name and page numbers in the header in the upper right hand corner. Don’t forget a title. Include a word count at the end of your essay.
Your essay must have a Works Cited page with entries for every outside source you use.
