The paper is to be in 7th Edition APA format using citations within the paper and full
references on the last page of the paper. Incorrectly cited material will affect your grade.
References from various sources (i.e., text, academic journals [peer reviewed],
professional journals, and web-based materials) must be cited, and all must be of
appropriate academic quality. Use of newspapers, news magazines, and similar
periodicals must be kept to a minimum, and will be acceptable only as sources for
supplementary information. References like “Wikipedia,” “Psychology Today,” and
“Court TV” are not primary sources, are not peer reviewed (reviewed for empirical
integrity, accuracy, and authenticity), and are not appropriate references for scholarly
writing (except for use for anecdotal background information).
The body of the paper is to be a minimum of 3 pages. The body of the paper does not
include the title page, abstract page, or the reference page. The paper will be typed,
double spaced, 1-inch margins, size 12 font. A minimum of 2 academic references should
be used. Sources used for studies or statistical information should be less than 10 years
old. It will also include personal opinions. Final projects must be submitted through
Canvas. Failure to submit by the deadline will constitute late submission. Final projects
will be evaluated based on the substantive quality and the clarity with which they are
written. You must have an:
Introduction – including background information, importance of the subject, and a
general overview of the subject,
Discussion – present a logical sequence of information and discussion. Build your
case and support it and
Conclusions – A final overview of the subject, presenting your final concluding
remarks – the overall conclusions that you have drawn from your research.
It is expected that the paper you turn in will be, in addition to interesting, engaging, and
original, well edited. The paper should be of high quality, free of spelling and
grammatical errors, and of original work. Plagiarism will not be permitted and
occurrences of it will result in the procedures outlined in the “Student Handbook.” I will
take off for misspellings and flagrantly poor grammar, and for poor organization.
