data source does the paper use? What sampling technique does that data source
use (random, non-random, oversample of some population…). What is the target
population of the sample/who is the sample generalizable to (everyone in the
U.S., workers, college students…). What is the analysis sample size? Was
missing data an issue?

Methods: What
is the statistical method(s) used in the analysis? What is the dependent
variable and how is it measured? How are the main explanatory variables
operationalized (don’t need to describe how every variable is measured, just
the main ones)?
Results: Describe
the results of the quantitative analysis. What are the major findings
(statistical significance, direction of relationships, magnitude of effects if
stated…). Any robustness checks (sensitivity analysis) or supplementary
analysis?
Conclusion: Do
the results support the main theory and hypotheses?
Limitations: Do
the authors mention any potential limitations of this study? Do you notice any
potential limitations of this study? This can be anything you think is a
limitation including theoretical framing, data source, sampling, variable
measurement, omitted variables, model specification, etc.
