QSRP topics: answer two of them
1. Answer question 1 on page154. “What is the difference between the assimilationist and pluralist ideals of equality? What reasons might support each ideal, and what criticisms might count against each one? Is one view more applicable to Title IX then the other? Defend your position.
2. Discuss question 4 on page 154 (chapter 5) in Fair Play: “Explain the claim that the most popular sports are “male biased.” What remedy for this bias have Betsy Postow and Jane English proposed? How would you assess their proposal?” How does Title IX address this issue?
3. M. L. King, Jr. argues that just laws are ‘inclusive’ and unjust laws are ‘exclusive;’ using examples of each, explain what does he mean by this. What does he mean by ‘nobodiness’ and why is this an important concept in understanding social justice? Do you agree or disagree with his ideas re justice and nobodiness? Have women and women’s sports been treated as ‘nobodies?’ If so, what should be done to remedy this?
