Minor Project: The History of Human Relations and Employee Development. Following World War II, the concept of training and development began to emerge in the U.S. At that time, the demand for skilled workers grew due to rapid technological innovations. In the U.S. during the war, the emergence of training and development programs came in the form of a program called “Training Within Industry (TWI)”. This was essentially a partnership between private industry and the U.S. government that helped to significantly scale up production for the wartime economy. Using no more than 5,000 words (20 pages, double spaced), think of this Project as a treatise or case study. Consider how employee development has stayed the same over since the 1940s and the significant ways it has changed. What worked then and still works now and what does the future look like?
