Write a compare & contrast essay on hip-hop by using Imani Perry’s “The Venus Hip Hop and the Pink Ghetto” as a model. Following Perry, organize your essay into a thesis/antithesis/synthesis structure. 1400-1800 words.
Most of your research will come from primary sources, like song lyrics, videos, fashion, etc. If you cite lyrics, you do not need to cite the source. Just make it clear in your essay what song the lyrics come from.
In addition, please use at least two secondary sources that you find on your own, such as magazine or journal articles. Use secondary sources to add further information about your artists or a topic.
You may use tertiary sources as well (e.g., encyclopedias), but it is not required. See the tutorial on sources below.
