Explain how the item you researched illustrate aspects of globalization (positive and/or negative) discussed in the readings around IPE (including Enloe, Alden, Krugman, and Gilpin, as well as our discussions of different approaches to IPE [specifically Nationalist/Mercantilist, Liberal/Neoliberal, Marxist, Constructivist and/or Feminist critiques])?
Basic Requirements
In general, your grade for these papers will be based upon:
Evidence that you have READ all of the material.
Evidence that you have THOUGHT about the material and the question posed.
Your ability to clearly EXPRESS your thoughts in writing.
Format for short papers
Two page maximum (short papers are much harder to write than longer ones. Your writing must be tight and concise. Concise writing is a difficult, but valuable, skill to acquire.
Single-spaced text.
Standard, one-inch margins and 11 or 12 point font in a standard, readable typeface.
Suggestions
You can organize your paper however you want, but you must address and adequately answer one of the questions posed. You should not provide a mechanical outline. You have to think broadly about what the entire reading was about, and then synthesize those broad points with enough details to make sense of them, in a few coherent, clear, sophisticated sentences. Doing so will then allow you to develop more clearly your answer(s) to the question posed. As you do so, critically reflect on the work and offer some insightful thoughts of analysis (Analytical thinking can be hard, but is a fundamental skill to acquire). Oftentimes, there might not be a ‘clear-cut’ answer to the question. Instead, you will have to think critically and creatively about the issues involved.
A Note on Citations

Quotations: When a direct quotation is used, always include the author, year, and page number as part of the citation.
1. A quotation of fewer than 40 words should be enclosed in double quotation marks and should be incorporated into the formal structure of the sentence. Consider the following example:
With regards to the citizenry, Cynthia Weber observed that “while no stable domestic community within clear, fixed boundaries can be located in practice, speaking as if a stable citizenry exists is to fix (however temporarily) the content of that citizenry discursively” (Weber 1995, 27).
2. A lengthier quotation of 40 or more words should appear (without quotation marks) apart from the surrounding text, in block format, with each line indented five spaces from the left margin.
