Identify different types of research methods and research study design, including observational, pre- experimental and experimental designs.

Description:
This project will help students understand inductive vs. deductive reasoning.
Objectives:
Identify research, the need for research, and the selection process to identify topics for research
Identify different types of research methods and research study design, including observational, pre- experimental and experimental designs
Develop a design for a healthcare research or program evaluation project in a healthcare setting.
Demonstrate a foundational understanding of the role of the literature review within research
Demonstrate understand between deductive and inductive reasoning
Instructions:
Step One: Re-watch the excerpt from Monty Python and the Holy Grail (found in Discussion Board 1 and under “Lectures,”). Also, review the information found within the eBook in section 1.3i “Deduction and Induction.”
Step Two: Write a 1-2 page essay discussing the following:
The villagers came to the conclusion that the woman was a witch because of their observations. Discuss whether this is inductive or deductive reasoning, or both, and why. Next, Sir Bedevere (the knight who is asking why the villagers believe the woman to be a witch” hypothesizes that if the woman weighs the same as a duck, she must be made of wood, and therefore she must be a witch. The villagers (in their feeble attempt) try to test this hypothesis by weighing the woman next to the duck. Discuss whether or not this is inductive or deductive reasoning, or both, and why.
